The state of Texas recognizes CSST Safety Day

October 22, 2014

The following is an excerpt from the official press release by the governor of Texas. The actual release can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Across Texas, homeowners and buyers work with a myriad of professionals to ensure their homes are safe and well–built. While the need for sturdy foundations and proper electrical wiring seems obvious, other safety features are less widely known.

Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) is a type of flexible piping used to distribute natural gas or propane throughout homes. While CSST has many benefits, improperly bonded tubing can cause serious damage when lightning strikes, including gas leaks or fires.

As you gather to raise awareness of this important issue and encourage homeowners to have a licensed electrician inspect CSST, I commend you for promoting Texans' safety. First Lady Anita Perry joins me in wishing you the best.

Rick Perry,
Governor of Texas
